Jonathan Rothschild

City of Tucson


Elected as the City of Tucson Mayor in 2011, Rothschild is a native Tucsonan. Prior to his election he served as managing partner in the law firm of Mesch, Clark, & Rothschild where he was responsible for the day-to-day management of the 21-attorney firm. Rothschild is a graduate of Kenyon College and the University of New Mexico Law School. He served as law clerk for U.S. District Court Judge Alfredo Marquez.
Rothschild has a long history of service with local non-profits including Casa de los Ninos, Handmaker Jewish Services for the Aging, and Temple Emanu-El. He is a member of the Tucson Parks & Recreation Commission and currently serves as Chair of the Jewish Community Relations Council. Previously Rothschild has also served on the Boards of the TMC Foundation, Jewish Family & Children’s Service, Friends of the University Libraries (UA), and the Community Foundation of Southern Arizona.
He serves as an adjunct Professor, James E. Rogers College of Law (UA) and Chair for the Committee on Examinations, State Bar of Arizona. He is a project coordinator for Operation Deep Freeze and a member of the SMART Project (Pima County Sheriff’s Department).
