Kathy Prather, a native Tucsonan, became the Superintendent/CEO of Pima JTED on July 1, 2018, one year after being appointed as the district’s Deputy Superintendent. Her career in education spans 35 years in multiple locations throughout Arizona after a career in the video, film and network television industry.
She holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Business Administration-Management, a Master of Arts Degree in Vocational Technical Education, and multiple certifications from the Arizona Department of Education including District Superintendent. She currently serves on the Metropolitan Education Commission, Tucson Metro Chamber of Commerce Board of Directors, Pima County Workforce Investment Board, Tucson’s Leading Women and Women’s Executive Connection.
The Association for Career and Technical Education of Arizona (ACTEAZ) recognized Kathy’s contributions to Career and Technical Education with their 2011 Administrator of the Year Award, and again with the 2016 ACTEAZ Lifetime Achievement Award. Pima JTED currently serves nearly 3000 central campus and 27,000 satellite campus students and recently opened the innovative Mel and Enid Zuckerman Center for Health and Medical Careers at The Bridges. Greater Tucson Leadership named Kathy as the 2022 Woman of the Year at their 2023 Community Impact Awards Event.
